Founded in Shanghai in 2024, Dzin architects is an architecture and design practice exploring the relationship between place, culture, and contemporary life. The name Dzin derives from འཛིན (’dzin), a Tibetan word meaning to hold, to sustain, and to carry forward. For us, this is not about preserving the past unchanged, but about understanding what is worth carrying forward and allowing it to evolve.

We begin with the specific conditions of each place — its physical character, history, culture, materials, craftsmanship, and the needs of those who inhabit it. Rather than reproducing regional forms or cultural symbols, we seek to translate these layers into contemporary architecture.

We believe culture should not be fully explained by architecture. It should retain space for interpretation, imagination, and reinterpretation.

We do not reproduce culture. We create the conditions for it to continue.
